Orbi Pro WiFi 6 AX6000 Tri-band WiFi System (SXK80) Setup

The mesh systems are those networking devices which covers your whole home so that you can
use internet services from all corners of your house.

There are total of three devices in the content package of the Orbi AX6000 WiFi System model
SXK80. You’ll get one pro router (SXR80) and two pro satellite (SXS80).

this installation and troubleshooting guide.

Orbi Pro SXK80 Setup

SXR80 Router Setup with Modem

Unplug everything. Pull power from the modem, router, everything. Wait 30 seconds. Modems
can be picky about remembering old MAC addresses, so a clean reboot is the only way to start
fresh.

Then, plug in the modem first. Let it fully boot. Depending on your ISP, that might take a couple
of minutes. If those lights aren’t steady, your router’s not going to get a proper IP.

Now, SXR80 time. Plug the WAN/Internet port (the yellow one) into the modem with a
standard Ethernet cable. Power it up. Again-wait. These things take forever to settle down on
first boot. You’ll see a lot of blinking white before it goes solid.

SXS80 Satellite Sync with Router

Power the satellite on in the reach of the Orbi router, then just follow the quick syncing
methods down here:

  • Find the Sync button at the back of the satellite and router.
  • Press the buttons one by one and wait until it shows blue light.
  • If it is showing the amber light which means move satellite close to the router.
  • If the satellite is showing pink or purple light, the connection is lost, you need to sync
    the devices again.

Download the Orbi app. Doesn’t matter if it’s iOS or Android, it works the same. Sign in with a
Netgear account.

  • Plug in the router unit first (SXK80 main unit). Wait. And I mean really wait. The ring
    light takes a bit to settle. Once it’s on and blinking white, the app should pick it up.
  • The app will try to scan a QR code on the bottom of the router. Do it – it’s easier than
    typing in the serial. If it fails, just enter it manually.
  • It’ll walk you through creating an admin password and WiFi SSID. Write down the
    password, because if you forget it, you’ll be factory resetting the thing later and cursing.
  • Once that’s done, the app checks for satellites. For me, the SXK80 satellite (SXS80) didn’t
    connect right away. Move it closer, pair it, then move it back to the spot where you
    actually want it.
  • If yours shows amber or red, just relocate and let it sync. Sometimes it takes 2-3
    minutes before it actually stabilizes.
  • Firmware update was the slowest step. The app basically forces it. It looks like it’s stuck
    sometimes, but just wait. Mine took almost 15 minutes, and the app froze once.

After all that, you’ll land on the dashboard in the Orbi app, showing internet status and
connected devices. At that point, you’re good.

It only works if you’re actually connected to the Orbi’s WiFi or directly plugged into it. If you’re
still on your regular ISP WiFi, it won’t resolve.

  • Connect to the SSID printed on the label (something like OrbiXX), then go to a browser
    and hit: orbilogin.net or 192.168.1.1.
  • The setup wizard walks you through the basics: create admin password, security questions (its mandatory), then it’ll try to detect your internet.
  • If your ISP uses DHCP (most do), it just works. If you’ve got something funky like PPPoE, you’ll need your login credentials.
  • Once the main unit is online, it’ll prompt to sync the satellite. Easiest way: plug in the satellite, hit the Sync button on both.
  • Wait. It can blink for like 3–4 minutes before going solid. Don’t panic, just give it time.

After that, firmware update. Always. The wizard will nag you, and honestly, just do it right then.
The update takes a while, the units reboot, and it looks like it’s hung, but it isn’t. Refresh
orbilogin.net after 5 minutes and it should be back.
